Sucks. Terrible. Trash everywhere. Locals super hostile. The waves are tiny and totally not good. Sharks in the lineup. Stay away.
Beautiful wide beach, no restrooms available
Since this beautiful place is in a small residential community be extra respectful. Drive slow, because there are a lot of children due to this being a popular family beach for locals. Shorebreak can get rough, no lifeguard on duty, no public bathrooms or showers available. Do not approach any marine life as it can get you a fine, or worse get injured. Grassy areas are actually privately owned but there is beach access graciously left open to get to the surf break. Anini Beach park is a good alternative nearby beach with public showers and bathrooms.
There is something very magical about this space. Ignore any post that tries to mislead you from coming here..this sacred location is loaded with my ancestors ti leaves throughout the majestic private shore. A plant friend of the Polynesians clearly indicated I accidentally stumbled upon a place of purification, protection and renewal. The 10 ft waves can be seen far in the distance, but here they are balanced, so peaceful never ever reaching this beach as it's fully protected by the cove. Vivi so calm and harmonious. The ocean bottom is like a sky blue glass. Please come with genuine respect for this land and leave with the aloha spirit, taking the light now wherever you go.
Nice, smaller beach to visit near Secret Beach. Driving past the Secret Beach turn, continue on road until a 90 degree left turn in road. May want to pull over on curve for some excellent pictures from above of the bay area and surrounding mountains. Usually several surfers directly below.
Continue on the road down a steep decline to Kalihiwai Beach at the bottom for more pics of the beach, bay and surrounding landscape. Note the exquisite homes perched high above.
Be on the lookout for a beautiful, small waterfall about half way between the Secret Beach turnoff and the 90 degree turn. It's on the right side with and some parking along the road on opposite side. Absolutely beautiful pictures!
Fantastic beach with great sand and lots of space. The downsides are that there are no lifeguards, public washrooms nor showers.
Decent beach that would appear to be overcrowded by the parking, but a lot of families played in the river area. This was a great place to relax, enjoy a book, and take an occasional splash in the surf.
Excellent beach! It’s quiet and hardly anyone on the beach compared to the other spots on the island. An excellent choice for boogie boarding, surfing, sunbathing, and for the little ones a small creek is on the backside for some calmer fun in the sun!
